Diwali is a really awaited celebration. There will be sweets, decorations, gifts, and crackers. But crackers add not only to pollution but also to health risks. Many are taking a good initiative to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali. But many seem sad about not able to have fireworks and crackers as Supreme Court had earlier declared a ban on polluting chemical crackers.
The Green crackers are an alternative for the chemical conventional firecrackers that release pollutants and dust particles to the atmosphere. The Indian Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) developed the eco-crackers. The idea was proposed by the Union Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan. Green crackers can be identified by the green logo and the QR code. The green crackers are available for the prices less than or equal to the conventional crackers.
Green crackers do not allow the dust particles to rise and releases water vapor. They do not contain banned chemicals like barium, lithium, arsenic, and lead. It also reduces particulate emissions by 30%. The crackers are named Safe Water Releaser (SWAS), Safe Thermite Cracker (STAR), Safe Minimal Aluminium(SAFAL).
Conventional firecrackers can cause respiratory diseases, heart diseases and even nervous system damages. It contains chemicals that if inhaled can get accumulated and eventually cause damage to health. Green crackers serve as the best alternative for these chemical crackers.
Green crackers are now available in the market after the testing process undergone at the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation. The joy of spreading love in the form of loving nature and the environment is the new trending theme of Diwali.
