The federal police said Monday that India has requested an international arrest warrant for fugitive billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi which is after hours later reports claimed he had sought asylum in Britain.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said that they had sent a request to Interpol in order to issue a so-called red corner notice looking for his detention. CBI official R K Gaur sated that the request has been sent to the Interpol.
According to the Financial Times newspaper, India and UK as saying that the jeweller, whose clients included movie stars. Nirav Modi is 47-year-old and his uncle and business partner Mehul Choksi, also a diamond merchant.
It is also accusing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi of helping him flee and his escape had caused the massive public outcry. The investigation authority reported that he diverted large sums of the loan money illegally to invest in foreign-based companies. Indian courts have issued arrest warrants for several times and repeatedly he made flew away.
