‘Pedaling to save nature’
This is the message Firoz Nediyath hailing from Kalpeni island of Lakshadweep have for the world while he set out with his bicycle from Thiruvananthapuram. Firoz is a student at Trivandrum Fine Arts College and is presently in his second semester of MFA course.
The islands with just 8km length in Lakshadweep which once had only bicycles is now stocked with cars and motorbikes. People used to use bicycles to travel to school and to work. It is sad to realize the fact that even these small islands now contributes to so much pollution caused by these vehicles. Even the first half of Firoz’s journey he found three dogs, a cat and a snake dead after being hit by vehicles.
Through this travel in his cycle, Firoz wishes to make people realize the need to look for more eco-friendly methods of travel. He started his journey from Thiruvananthapuram on the 22nd of this month. In this busy world, where fewer people spend time for nature, Firoz is riding his bicycle acting as a symbol of peace. He stays at the abode of his friends in each district for the nights. Firoz is a warrior for nature.
