The president of India’s Congress party Rahul Gandhi arrived at the Dubai International Airport on Thursday evening and received by senior Congress leaders and other All India Congress Committee secretaries. The other leaders who had already reached in preparation for Rahul’s 2-day visit in UAE. Rahul came with Sam Pitroda, chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, and planned a meeting with hundreds of Indian workers in Dubai on Friday morning.
Rahul will see and interact with workers, business leaders, professionals, students and the broader Indian expat community. The visit is a part of his global outreach programme that comes ahead of general elections in India. The hundreds of Indian workers at labour accommodation in Jebel Ali will meet him at 10 am. The Indian Business and Professional Council in Dubai arranged an interactive meeting with Rahul during lunch time.
Rahul will be the chief guest of the leading public event, a cultural meeting of the Indian diaspora will begin at 4 pm at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He is also expected to speak on the current relevance of Gandhi’s ethos on tolerance and the issues faced by the NRIs and give them assurances about what he can do to resolve them.
