Sunny Varkey, GEMS Education Founder & Chairman donated AED 5 million to the emergency committee launched recently by UAE to backing emergency relief and rehabilitation work in Kerala.
Sunny Varkey appreciated the efforts of the national emergency committee chaired by the Emirates Red Crescent for helping the needed. He pointed out that the gesture of goodwill highlighted by the UAE officials shows the spirit of solidarity and togetherness.
He added that Keralites have played an important role in the success story of the country. This is a challenging time for Kerala and they will overcome with the supports and standing united. Kerala is witnessing an unprecedented challenge and people need concerted efforts to rebuild the state.
More than 200 people lost their lives and thousands of them displaced during the flood. UAE government, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, have emphasized their support through the formation of the special committee.
